Kenyan fashion designer Anne Mpinga made her runway debut at the Hub of Africa Fashion week in December 2011 held in Addis Ababa, with her Kipusa line .
Kipusa is Swahili for beautiful young lady and as the name suggests, her clothes are designed to accentuate the natural beauty of women. A  combination of African prints fused with lace, natural cotton and chiffon accents carefully pieced together are the very things that make Kipusa designs drape flawlessly on a woman’s curves. Anne uses colorful African prints to create funky modern wear and reinvent typical casual wear. Her designs can be classified as modern-African chic.

“My style is chic, funk, classic and simple. It’s for the everyday woman. I put a lot of emphasis on dressing regular African women. I like our body types, curves and everything,” she says.

The designer says that Kipusa was born out of a love for color, patterns, frills and beauty. It is a collection that represents the beautiful and diverse fabric selections available in Africa. Kipusa brings forth a love for color, style, prints and non conformity in designs that are edgy, and appealing to the sophisticated woman.
She has also recently began to design cutting edge accessories to spice up an outfit.
