Reiss Spring/Summer 2012 Lookbook
Premium high street retailer Reiss has recently released its spring/summer 2012 collection, entitled ‘The Sunshine Season.’ LA inspired; the collection is reminiscent of a bygone Hollywood era – with all the cool, sophisticated tones of the hit elite of the 50s/60s – all the while presenting modern tailoring at its finest.
Aimed at the man who is creative and isn’t afraid of mixing vintage flare with contemporary items, the collection speaks volumes of Reiss’ approach to the new season – adding a romantic outlook and insisting that the man experiments with soft tailoring and bold patterns, whilst anchoring the look with a few structured pieces.
The casual wear on offer in the lookbook features the stereotypical laid back attitude of the 1950s Californian man. Candy colours of yellows, pinks and blues utilised on the shirts, shorts and cardigans scream sunshine and all things Americana, whilst the use of smart loafers adds the formality necessary for any self respecting gent attending a Beverley Hills Pool Party in the midst of Summer. Coloured chinos, polka dot shirts, mustard cardigans and fine knits add to the underlying vintage theme running throughout the collection.
The more formal aspect of the range focuses heavily on tailoring, with slim fitting suits creating the perfect silhouette; suitable to wear as a complete outfit or as separates, the suits are versatile and should cover both formal and smart/casual occasions. Double breasted play a huge part in the lookbook, with jackets available in hues of blue – from metallic to vivid Air Force blue – creating the perfect canvas for the tonal blue outfits that are going to become a major trend this spring/summer.
